Perk Up Your Kids’ Bible Class with a Burning Bush

October 8, 2022 by Kathy Petrillo Leave a Comment

Moses and the burning bush is always an exciting lesson to teach to children. When teaching this lesson, I use an ORANGE SWIRLING LIGHT to give the effect that the bush is actually on fire. When I found a light at Home Depot around Halloween, a light bulb went on in my head (Pun intended!). I knew I could use this light when teaching this story.

VIEW A VIDEO OR SHOW IT IN YOUR CLASS

I cannot add a video of the bush with the swirling light here due to size limitations. However, you can view a video done during COVID isolation that shows how to teach the whole lesson. It can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vPh-JPeiC4&t=358s

THE BARE BUSH

The photo below shows branches to cut and glue to poster board. As you tell each part of the story of Moses and the burning bush, place leaves on bare branches using clear Velcro.

ADD LEAVES

As you tell each part of the story of Moses and the burning bush, place leaves on bare branches using clear Velcro.  Each leaf has words related to a part of the story.

ADD FLAMES

After leaves are in place, begin adding the flames. The flames are all about Moses’ excuses. Again, use Velcro to fix the flames in place.

ADD SWIRLING ORANGE LIGHT

After adding the first few flames, turn on the orange swirling light.  This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/Halloween-Outdoor-Decoration-Effect-Projector/dp/B01LL1B5XW

MODIFICATIONS FOR DIFFERENT AGES

This visual aid is easily modified for the age group you are teaching. For early readers or non-readers, you will need a shorter version that they can understand. Simply place some leaves in on the bush before you begin the story.  Then add the flames as you teach.

If the children can’t read, you can still use flames with the words.  If you don’t want words at all on your visual, simply l trace and cut out the leaves and flames from the free pattern below.

Get ready to WOW your class with this way of teaching Moses and the burning bush!

Welcome to Come Fill Your Cup!

CFYC About Image Welcome! We are so glad you stopped by. Come Fill Your Cup is a group of Christian ladies dedicated to equipping women for study and service. We know you are busy and that life’s hectic pace pulls you in so many directions, but you can’t truly be the woman God desires unless you take time to fill your own cup…not with spa days (though we love a good spa!) or the latest novel…but with God’s Holy Word. We want to help you with that! Our goal is to reach you in the midst of your busy day and give you encouragement, education, and fellowship as you strive to live the life God has laid before you. Our prayer is that we can help fill your cup so that you, in turn, can overflow to all those around you. So, as we like to say…come fill your cup, and let it overflow!
