Perk Up Your Bible Class with Videos

December 3, 2020 by Kathy Petrillo Leave a Comment

During the COVID-19 isolation of 2020, many of us have been unable to teach our regular children’s Bible classes. Not wanting children at our local congregation to miss out, I decided to record a few video lessons for kindergarten through 5th grades for the “month or so” we would be isolated. None of us would have guessed how the social isolation period would be prolonged.

Here in Denver, we have not had children’s Bible classes at the building since early March. It is now almost Thanksgiving.

All videos are now available on YouTube. You can find them on the Bear Valley Church of Christ YouTube channel. Links to all of the videos in YouTube are at the bottom of this article.

The image above is from Noah and All Those Animals. The lesson teaches that Noah obeyed God by bringing 2 pairs and 7 pairs of each animal kind. It also presents one answer to one objection by ark critics who say the story of Noah’s ark is not a true story. It begins with a review of previous lessons going back to creation.

These videos may be viewed in a home setting or in a classroom setting if you are able to meet together. We tried to include singing and lots of variety in order to keep the interest of the child viewer. The hope was that children would benefit as well as teachers looking for new ideas.

This lesson shown above is David being anointed by Samuel emphasizing that God looks at the heart instead of our physical appearance. The lesson is presented using a “sandbox” concept with a little bit of stop motion video effects. The geode seen in this picture is the “surprise inside” that is revealed at the end of the video.

Here is a screenshot from the lesson on Creation.

This lesson show in the image above covers Moses’ life and his running away to Midian. The poster is a song. As the song is sung, the blanks are filled in with word strips. The kids love singing this song over and over. They are actually internalizing facts as they sing – always a win!

Welcome to Come Fill Your Cup!

CFYC About Image Welcome! We are so glad you stopped by. Come Fill Your Cup is a group of Christian ladies dedicated to equipping women for study and service. We know you are busy and that life’s hectic pace pulls you in so many directions, but you can’t truly be the woman God desires unless you take time to fill your own cup…not with spa days (though we love a good spa!) or the latest novel…but with God’s Holy Word. We want to help you with that! Our goal is to reach you in the midst of your busy day and give you encouragement, education, and fellowship as you strive to live the life God has laid before you. Our prayer is that we can help fill your cup so that you, in turn, can overflow to all those around you. So, as we like to say…come fill your cup, and let it overflow!
