A few weeks ago, I sent out one of those question/answer e-mails. One of the many questions was this: “Are you single or taken?” Without thinking much about it, I typed “single” and went on to the next question. I would not have thought another thing about this except that a few days later I received the e-mail back. One of my good friends had sent it, and she answered that question by saying this: “I’m bought! 1 Corinthians 7:23.” This really encouraged me and got me to thinking. Girls, you do NOT have to be single—you can be taken because you are bought! “You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men” (1 Corinthians 7:23).
When I saw “single or taken?” My thoughts were limited to the world’s shallow meaning of those words. I immediately thought I was single—without a boy, in other words. But this wonderful friend of mine thought deeper. I believe she answered the single/taken question correctly! Ladies, we have been bought with a price—the most amazing price ever. Christ’s blood is what has purchased us. Will you willingly be taken? Or will you remain single and let His blood go to waste in your life?
The blood of Christ Jesus is too good for words. There is no way that I, or anyone else, can ever sufficiently describe the ultimate sacrifice He made. But we need to know that it is just that—the
ultimate sacrifice. Christ wants us to be His. He wants us to be taken. He’s not going to force anyone, so you can stay single. It’s our choice.
Are you single or taken? The answer to this question could change eternity for you. Jesus died for a reason, so that you can be His.
