In case you didn’t know it, Thanksgiving is this week. 🙂 I can almost smell the yummy scents coming out of kitchens around the country. While we’re busy eating turkey and green bean casserole, watching football, and napping, I wanted to take the time for us to make sure that we haven’t forgot the most important part of the holiday: decorating. 😉
Before the turkey can go on the table, you need a beautiful table. Before the feet go on the coffee table, you need a beautiful coffee table. Before the cell phones go on the shelves, you need something beautiful on your shelf. This is where I (and Pinterest) come to the rescue. Make sure that your holiday centerpiece makes a statement, a Biblical statement.
You will need gourds, pumpkins, and/or squashes, something pretty to put them in (bowl or platter), and a permanent marker.
Choose some of your favorite Bible verses on being thankful or giving thanks. Write the verses on the gourds, pumpkins, or squashes.
Then arrange on a pretty platter so the verses can be seen. Add extra decorative items as you wish such as fall leaves, cranberries, Pilgrim hats, etc. My oldest daughter added her corn husk dolls she had made with our home school group.
The final result is something that’s not only beautiful but shows your family and your guests that Thanksgiving didn’t start with the Pilgrims, but with the Lord.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving and let your gratefulness overflow,
Chelli Guthrie
