2 Peter 1:20-2 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
Mary Rose dug franticly around in the bottom of her closet. “Where can it be?” Mary Rose said to herself. Scurrying around, searching here and there she said, “Maybe it’s under my bed!” But the only things she saw under her bed were a few stuffed toys, crayons, a couple pair of missed matched socks and a shoe. Mary Rose was not happy. Having her own Bible meant she was old enough to be responsible which included keeping track of it. She always had her Bible with her for Bible class and today she could only think of the worst…that it was lost and may never be found. “What have I done with it?” Seemed she had already looked all over the house. Would she ever hold and read her own Bible again? She tried to think of all the places she had been in the last week with her Bible. “Outside on the swing, in the car, over Grandma’s house, etc.” She wasn’t giving up hope just yet but sadly in her heart she was beginning to feel a sense of great loss. God’s Word is such an important book! Her own Bible had become very special to her and she was thinking about all the Bible class verses she had highlighted and even she even had a special book mark inside that listed the books of the Bible. Another thing that made her Bible special was that it was her favorite color – green and her name was printed on the outside in gold. “Maybe if someone found it they would return it me.” Oh she hoped so. She was going to have a hard time getting to sleep. She hated the feeling she experienced the next morning when she walked into the classroom empty handed. Everyone else had brought their Bible and were able to add a Bible sticker beside their name on the wall. And to make things worse, this was the big week for their Bible fact Bible fact quiz so if you brought your Bible today you got 2 stickers beside your name. Mary Rose was so nervous because she had put off her study until Saturday night and since she could not find her Bible she was unable to study her new Bible fact sheet for it was just inside the front cover of her “lost” Bible. She had to study from the old Bible fact sheets that were actually missing some the newest Bible fact questions.
Mary Rose was feeling very ashamed.
From the ceiling in the classroom hung large numbers made from blue poster board. 40; 39; 1600; 66; and 27. They were actually answers to certain Bible fact questions. Maybe they would help to remind her.
The teacher had a few different ways of quizzing them over the Bible facts. She used 2 different sets of flash cards. One set had Bible fact questions that the teacher held up asking each question aloud. The other set gave the answer and they had to tell what each particular answer represented. Each person or team wrote their answer down and if it was correct they received a gold star. The person or team with the most gold stars at the end of the quiz won!
This week they had a new interactive triangle shaped question box entitled “Tri” Your Bible Knowledge. It had 6 weighted cylinders attached, 3 on one side and 3 on the other. Each weighted cylinder showed a question on one side and had to be turned by hand to reveal the answer on the other side of the same cylinder. Once the cylinder was let go of, the weight inside turned the cylinder so it hid the answer again. Each student took a turn “Tring” their Bible knowledge. By now Mary Rose was feeling somewhat better and said, “This certainly is a fun way to “Tri” your Bible knowledge!” The students wanted to do it all again the next week. Every couple of weeks the teacher changed out the questions and answers for different ones. Sometimes they were questions from previous Bible lessons. Mary Rose and her friends had been able to correctly answer most all of the Bible fact questions that day and as a result there had been many gold stars handed out! At the end of class the teacher came over to Mary Rose and handed her a green book. It was her BIBLE! She had left it in class the previous week. Mary Rose was so happy! She wrapped her arms around it and clung to her Bible. Her Bible fact sheet and book mark were still inside and she was especially glad to see all her highlighted verses again. She would certainly be more responsible from now on keeping better track of her Bible. She thanked her teacher and told her all about looking for her Bible.
Greetings!
To my Sister Bible class teachers,
I pray you are already finding blessings in the beginning of this New Year! Are you teaching this quarter or on break? I personally am on break but even then continue to work on Bible class ideas. I am excited to have received my teaching materials for the spring quarter already! Having a head start is always great when it comes to developing all those Bible lessons. If your congregation purchases teaching materials for Bible classes, see if you can obtain yours a quarter ahead of time. Tt will truly be a blessing to you and your students.Mary Rose sure was frantic with the thought of losing her Bible. I have experienced that feeling maybe a couple times in my life and it is not a pleasant one. I do have a favorite Bible I like to teach from and it has lots of notes and helpful references. Once I had simply left it in the pew and thankfully it turned up in the lost and found. Don’t we all love being acquainted with our personal Bible? Familiarizing ourselves with its pages, perks of layout, and extra little study helps. Mary Rose and her classmates were learning about Bible facts in informative fun ways. Children can begin learn facts about the Bible at a very early age. Keep testing their minds as they grow older.
This month I would like to share a couple of things with you.
- Both of the Bible Fact Flash Card sets.
- The DIY “Tri” Your Bible Knowledge apparatus with Bible Fact Cards
- Object – To help the students learn facts about their Bible and also to give them a “hands on” activity that will help them learn and recall Bible truths.

I appreciate all you do as Bible class teachers and especially for taking the time to share God’s Word on a level that all of those young pliable hearts we come into contact with can understand. This has been a joy and I truly pray you find many blessings from this month’s visual aids.
