Perk Up Your Bible Class with Visualized Bible Verses

August 18, 2021 by Kathy Petrillo Leave a Comment

Do the children you teach sometimes have difficulty retaining the Bible verses they supposedly memorized? If not, why not try visualizing the verses? There are many ways to do this, but we will show just 4 ways in this article.

So, just how do we visualize Bible verses? I’m glad you asked!

Use IMAGES to replace some of the words in the verse. This is especially effective for younger readers.

  • Simply write or print out the verse on cardstock leaving a space to glue an image in place of a word.
  • This may also be done in a Word document, Google Docs, PowerPoint and more.
  • You may click on the image above and download it to your device. Then you can print it on regular 8 1/2″ x 11″ printer paper or cardstock.

The image below shows another version of this concept. A knot is used for the word “not”.  The word “lean” is also in italicized type; it is leaning like this:  LEAN. You may download a printable copy of this Prov. 3:5-6 rebus here: Prov 3.5,6 MV REBUS.

You can visualize Psalm 19:1 as a craft.

  • Children should trace their hand and cut it out. This represents God’s hand.
  • They then glue the hand onto a piece of black paper.
  • They also glue Psalm 19:1 on the “hand of God”.  They may write this themselves or you may print it out for them to glue on. The second way is what we did in this craft.
  • They can also add stickers or cutouts for stars, sun and moon.

One of the best ways to help children retain Bible verses for the long term is to repeat, repeat, and repeat them.  I use much more than visualization. I also use songs, movement, objects and even more as methods for repeating Bible verses.  Use your creativity and you may be surprised at what you come up with.

Welcome to Come Fill Your Cup!

CFYC About Image Welcome! We are so glad you stopped by. Come Fill Your Cup is a group of Christian ladies dedicated to equipping women for study and service. We know you are busy and that life’s hectic pace pulls you in so many directions, but you can’t truly be the woman God desires unless you take time to fill your own cup…not with spa days (though we love a good spa!) or the latest novel…but with God’s Holy Word. We want to help you with that! Our goal is to reach you in the midst of your busy day and give you encouragement, education, and fellowship as you strive to live the life God has laid before you. Our prayer is that we can help fill your cup so that you, in turn, can overflow to all those around you. So, as we like to say…come fill your cup, and let it overflow!
