“I sure do love you, Jesus”-
But only Sunday morning
For the rest of the week,
I’ve got sin to be exploring
“I sure do love you, Jesus”-
But when the weather’s hot
I’ll show off all my body,
A bikini I will flaunt
“I sure do love you, Jesus”-
But when the liquor’s good
I’ll have a margarita,
And another vodka, too
“I sure do love you, Jesus”-
For you know they’re only words!
Gossip, lying, crudeness,
Why would these make me disturbed?
“I sure do love you, Jesus”-
But his hands just feel so good
I’ll let them linger longer,
Just a moment, than they should
“I sure do love you Jesus,”-
But really, I do not
For when the world does call me,
I’ll forsake all You have taught
“I sure do like you, Jesus”-
Now maybe that’s more true
For only in convenience,
Do I ever follow You
“I sure do like you, Jesus”-
But world, I love you best
For I’ve given God each Sunday,
Yet to Satan, all the rest.

Emily, you surely have a gift for writing. Keep it up and most importantly, keep serving Him! I am so glad you and KJ are here with us.

WHOA. That is a bombshell right there. It is difficult to teach in a dozen devotionals what you’ve nailed on the head. Well done, Emily. Thanks for not holding back – we all need to hear from time to time that our commitment is more than intentions or words. Revelation 2:19 reminds us that Jesus carefully observes our deeds and therein measures our commitment . Great job!

I love this poem! Outstanding!
Carla Wright says
Excellent poem! It certainly shows the pull of sinful desires and the danger therein of “lipservice”.
