My boys love this one.  I’ll never forget how their eyes lit up when I first showed it to them, and how Dale exclaimed, “That is so cool!”  And it is.  No matter what the world believes, or how hard atheists ridicule, the truth is un-get-around-able.  God is real, and the Bible is inspired.

This topic is a good faith-builder.  Make sure your teens have it marked before they go off to college.  This topic is good to use when studying with someone who thinks the Bible is a just good book rather than the inspired Word.  This topic proves the very existence of God, since He gave knowledge about things the scientific world wouldn’t discover for centuries to come.  In other words, this Bible-marking topic is  power-packed!  Let’s begin.

Scientific Foreknowledge- Job 38:16

“Have you entered the springs of the sea?  Or have you walked in search of the depths?”

Underline “springs of the sea,” and write in parenthesis next to it “not just rainfall & runoff.”  We now know seas are fed by more than just rain; they are fed by underground springs.  There are even freshwater springs in some oceans fed by deep underground streams.  Also underline “search of the depths.”  The New American Standard reads “recesses of the deep.”  In parenthesis, write, “paths/ trenches.”  These recesses of the deep have only been discovered within the past couple of centuries, yet God asked Job about them thousands of years ago!  At the end of this verse, write Gen. 6:15.

“And this is how you shall make it:  The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.”

Underline the words “length,” “width,” and “height.”  In the margin, write, “Perfect seafaring ratio, 30:5:3.”  Shipbuilders now know this
is the perfect ratio for a large vessel to be seaworthy.  At the end of this verse, write the next one, which is Lev. 11-14.

These four chapters include God’s instructions for His people concerning health matters (hygiene, food safety, etc.).  In my Bible, I wrote “SF chap. 11-14” next to chapter 11, and also listed the topics that God covers.

A.  Diagnosis of Communicable Diseases

B.  Quarantines for Certain Diseases

C.  Prohibition of Certain Foods

I also included there the next verse, which is Gen. 17:12.

“He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations…” 

Underline “eight days old,” and write in the margin, “Prothrombin over 100% on 8th day; helps blood clot faster.”  How did Moses know that?  Also write in the margin, “Moses did not draw on Egyptian scholarship.”  If you have room, you can list some examples of their medical practices at that time, which were outrageous!

• For teething, use field mouse
• For splinter, use earthworm & cow manure
• For gray hair, use boiled blood of black calf

At the end of Gen. 17:12, write Isa. 40:22.

“It is He who sits above the circle of the earth…”

Underline “circle of the earth,” and write in the margin, “This is 700 B.C., approximately 2200 years before proven by man.”  At the end of this verse, write Job 26:7.

“He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth on nothing.”

Underline “hangs the earth on nothing.”  There were many different beliefs about the position of the earth before scientists finally discovered what God taught long ago.  Write in the margin, “Earth hangs on its axis, not on back of a god.”  At the end of that verse, write 1 Cor. 15:41.

“There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.”

Underline “one star differs from another star.”  In the margin, write, “Every star looks like a point of light, even through a telescope.  But we now know there are many types of stars–no two of which are alike.”  At the end of the verse, write Ecc. 1:6,7.

“The wind goes toward the south, and turns around to the north; the wind whirls about continually, and comes again on its circuit.  All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place from which the rivers come, there they return again.”

Underline the entire passage, and write “jet stream” in the margin next to verse 6, and “water cycle of the earth” next to verse 7.  At the end of the verse, write Lev. 17:11.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.”

Underline “life of the flesh is in the blood.”  In the margin, write, “God told Moses- 1450 B.C.; discovered by William Harvey- 1611 A.D.  At the end of the verse, write our last one, Psa. 8:8.

“The birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.”

Underline “paths of the seas,” and write in the margin, “Matthew Maury, a naval man, discovered these in the mid-1800’s after reading this verse in his Bible.”  (My family visited his monument in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA, and saw the inscription that credits the Bible for Maury’s discovery!)

While looking up the name of Maury to check the spelling, I ran across a great link that includes many of these Biblical proofs of inspiration and then some.  You can add more facts and details to your Bible-marking.

These are just a few Scriptures that prove by way of scientific foreknowledge that, indeed, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God….” (2 Tim. 3:16).
